Oct 6, 2022 Morgantown WV 摩根市/西佛吉尼亚

We left around 2pm after busy day at work. We hit some traffic, but not too bad. Not much colors on the way, until about an hours toward Morgantown. I was excited to see COLORS!

The plan is to visit Cooper’s Rocks Park tomorrow, but when we were arriving at that area, it was about to sunset. So me and Erik rushed to the overview to see the beautiful sunset.

Felt disappointed and discouraged for the rest of the night. If we go more south tomorrow to the other two parks, we may not see more colors since this park’s leaves didn’t even have much colors. After couple of hours of struggling, I finally accepted the idea to go home tomorrow and come back later. 一晚上纠结明天是不是继续我们的行程，唉，叶子颜色没变啊，要不还是回去吧。老艾一直安慰我，想继续继续，不想继续过几周想来再来…好吧，我还是觉得回家吧, 好不情愿，但也不想继续失望 :(

Oct 7, 2022 Coopers Park State Forest, and…home 公园徒步，回家

We went to Morgantown and bought local food: pepperoni rolls, which is bread with pepperoni inside. It tasted just like that. We thought about trying out a restaurant, but nothing looked very special for us.

So after the quick stop, we headed to Cooper’s park and hike the trail on our list. 去摩根市转了一圈儿，就去徒步了。

It is a very nice trail with decent view at the end. Not very high elevation. We enjoyed it. It began to rain right after we were done. I felt so blessed.

Oct 15, 2022 Dolly Sods, West Virginia again 再进西佛吉尼亚

After a week, I thought about going back to continue our WV trip. Erik said why not. Yeah, why not. Erik is such an enabler, but I do need the push most of the time to “pull the trigger” , actually for things that I really want. He is good at knowing what’s in my heart. 一周以后，继续我们的原始计划。又开三个小时，重顾西佛吉尼亚。

Dolly Sods: Bear Rocks Trail

It turned out that it was the peak last weekend in Dolly Sods. Oh well, lesson learned that more south doesn’t necessarily mean greener leaves. We still enjoyed our hike very much. Dolly Sods has its unique landscape with wild blueberry bushes that turn super red in early fall. Good weather, nice view the whole hike. Oct 16, 2022 Blackwater Falls Park, and home 黑水公园，再回家

Hiked Pace Point trail, Pendleton Point Overlook, visited Blackwater Falls, and Lindy’s Overlook. All good and enjoyable. 一早起来徒步，看了黑水瀑布，又去了几个眺高观景台，满满的秋色，满心的欢喜

Driving back was also enjoyable experience for me. I love feeling immersed in the colors. It feels like driving in a different world which makes me forget everything else, but look at and breathe in all the colors and still cannot get enough! 秋天的色彩是无法形容的美，我说不出所有的颜色，身临其中的时候心中充满无比的快感，使我对它产生迷恋。

Oct 21, 2022 Blue Ridge Parkway, Roanoke 蓝领公路，又看红叶

In love means never enough. Here we are heading south to chase the colors after another week. Drove 5 hours to Roanoke. 这个周末接着看叶子，迷恋就是不断的追求。西边去了，那我们就往南吧…

Oct 22, 2022 Linn Cove Viaduct 继续南行

Another 5 hours south on Blue Ridge Parkway, another 5 hours of immersing in fall foliage. 往南又开5个小时，又是5个小时的梦幻世界游…

Linn Cove Viaduct is the most popular place to stop on Blue Ridge. I read about it Thursday just before this trip. So we changed our original plan to end at Roanoke and decided to drive further to this Viaduct. I thought it was less than 4 hours from Roanoke, but it turned out to be 5 and half.

Parked at the visitor center. Followed the sign for Linn Cove Viaduct and got on a trail, a trail that led to no where and a trail didn’t have any views. I think I misread a blog. Oh well, exercise for the day.

So many pretty pictures of the famous bridge, but I didn’t get to take a good one this time. The bridge is in there though.

Rough Ridge Trail: This is the trail that I meant to go on. We stopped at the first platform and didn’t go higher. We would have if we didn’t spend all our time on the wrong trail. :(

Oct 23, 2022 Frontier Museum, and home again

We took the high way home, and the drive was also pretty. Stopped at Frontier Museum. It is a nice outdoor museum. A good stop on the way. 户外博物馆，主要介绍18-19世纪不同国家的人来这个地区定居，他们带来的民族文化。

Mandarin in Reston. 吃了他家这个菜10几年了，这一年老艾几乎每周末都买。

今年的叶子看的差不多了， 很满足:) 连着三个周末，真的是感恩老艾的耐心。也感恩一个不认识的天主教神父，在去超市取他们活动订的炸鸡时，看我们要买没有了，送给了我们几块儿。感恩我们有这样的经济基础可以担负这样的生活，很多人连温饱都不能保证。神给我们的太多了…感恩！
